Basic Research

Basic research at IMSE focuses on gaining a deeper understanding of the relationships between material structure, composition, and properties, as well as on the development of new theoretical and experimental approaches in materials science. Research activities are primarily carried out within projects funded by the Czech Science Foundation (GAČR) and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic (MEYS). The main research topics include prediction of defect stability in functional materials using machine learning methods, preparation of advanced alloys by powder metallurgy routes, and the study of piezo-active particles and complex ceramic oxides. Research conducted at IMSE is further enhanced through professional collaboration with research centers such as CEITEC Brno University of Technology and selected institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
